Spiritual Pathways is an app that can help you draw closer to our Heavenly Father. At present there are six different areas that have been spotlighted. Id like to expand upon each area to give an idea of the benefit of each one.
1. Sacred Suggestions
2. Thank Tank
3. The Funnies
4. Temple Tracker
5. Sunday Notes
6. Gift to Christ
1. Sacred Suggestions
Sacred Suggestions is a place to record your sacred suggestions from the Spirit AND to write in the outcome or result of your experience with the Holy Ghost. I know that we sometimes second guess ourselves thinking, "Was that me thinking that, or was it the Holy Ghost?" As you act on those feelings or thoughts you will open yourself up to more insights and direction from the Lord.
2. Thank Tank
The Thank Tank is a modern day gratitude journal. Make a goal to jot down a few things at the end of your day. Reflect on those things that you are grateful for.
A friend of mine who started this with my mom said this about her gratitude journal: "We decided to jot 3-5 things down a day. We did it at the end of the day to reflect upon things. I remember that I started doing it throughout the day to help notice the smaller miracles going on around me. I kept a little notebook in my purse for that reason. We would share our thoughts with each other on occasion. My list was not a big deal: a smile from someone, a kind act, time to exercise, found a lost earring, read a cool scripture. It made me feel so blessed and I would see life more positively. I would have these epiphanies. Instead of being upset that my child had mental health issues, I was grateful for knowledge that came my way or for having the strength/patience to handle it."
3. The Funnies
The Funnies is to capture the lighter side of life. Record the moments in your life that make you smile.
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance.
-Proverbs 15:13
4. Temple Tracker
Temple Tracker is a place to record your temple visits. I was given the idea to record the name of the person I went through for about a month after I received my endowments. Since that time I have kept a record of every time I have gone to the temple. A friend of mine who has been keeping his own record since 1986 said that these are his "temple friends" and what a reunion they will have when he meets them on the other side.
This is what I keep a record of:
- Name of the Temple attended
- Name of person I went through for
- Date
- Any other note I wanted to jot down to remember the experience with. Such as who you went with or any thoughts or insights gained.
5. Sunday Notes
There are so many times that I am touched by the spirit during church. I wanted somewhere to write all of my thoughts and have them in one location. I felt like it was especially important to record the words of my bishop. As he receives his own direction from the spirit to lead us, I wanted to remember those insights.
6. Gift to Christ
Gift To Christ is the perfect way to make a yearly spiritual goal. This is what you are going to work on for the next year. What are you going to give Christ this year for his birthday? I like to do this at Christmas time each year.
For example, my gift to Christ this year is "kindness to my family."
